2. The next link to the left of this page contains the Self Study Sign-Up form for the course. Click on the link and copy and paste the form directly in the message box in the email form in the "Contact Us by Email" page in this Web site. Type directly in the message box the basic information asked for. Send the form so that Dr. Hoffman will have your name and email address to send reviews and comments of your assignments and quizzes.
3. You can view all the course options from the list of links in the green column on the left of the page. Click on "Self Study 201, Lay Ministry: Church Small Group Management" or "Self Study 202: 4 Basics of Christianity" or "Self Study 203 Basics 5-8" and SS204, SS205, and SS 206.
4. Check the Course Outline in the previous page for an overall summary of the Self Study course. The URLs and email addresses in the courses are links to documents, Web sites, and our email system. A few links may ask you to download the files to your own computer, or you can copy, read or print them off directly on the Web site the link opens. If any link does not open, please let me know and I will try to remedy the situation or set up a substitute link.
Because the green column of site and course links is always on your screen you can surf from link to link as you wish to change. The links to other self studies in this Web site are also available free for your use if you would desire to do so. Self Study 201 is a study about deliever ministry development through management of Church Small Groups.
5. Begin with the Course outline, sign up form, and then the assignment pages. Each assignment is presented as a worksheet, case problem, question and answer sheet, reading, or some other learning activity assignment. Begin with the first Learning Activity 602 and follow in numerical order, from 602 to 620 in SS201. Please feel free to contact your instructor if you do not understand the assignment. Another option would be to email your assignments to Drh completing it based upon your understanding of what is required. If the assignment you turn in is not what the instructor was looking for, Dr. Hoffman will send it back to you by email or some other method, and indicate how it should be revised. There are no deductions for resubmitting an assignment a second or third time. I am not trying to kill you, but to help you learn these essential Biblical principles.
If it seems from student comments and questions that an assignment is written incorrectly, or cannot be understood, the instructor will make slight changes and ask students to modify the revised assignment instead of the first version. No points will be deducted from a student’s total score if the assignment is revised. After years of writing online courses, drh has learned that an author cannot trust completely that all students will understand until several have tried it out. Help us by letting us know. In addition there is an evaluation form that you can complete after finishing each course.
6. The schedule is flexible. As indicated in the Course Outline, if there is a need to change anything in the course, changes will be sent by email message or entered on the assignment sheet or the quiz in the Web site. You will note an “Announcements or Messages” link is available on the green link column on the left of each page of the course. If you have a reason why you need to extend the assignments (such as illness, emergencies, or other possibilities) please inform Dr. Hoffman. But be diligent to continue working on the course, for there are no due dates to keep us moving along until the course is over. Drh is depending upon student motivation and self discipline to carry them through.
